Vale Farms
Family
Vale
Farms is a family owned and operated farm located between Vernon and Lumby in
the Okanagan Valley. Michael and Charlotte Ruechel established the farm in
1975. Today, they are proud to be a multi-generational farm with two
generations working together and the third well on its way.
Mission
Their
mission is to promote a strong and healthy family and to provide their community
with a choice of nutritious quality farm products while cultivating the holistic
balance between land, animals and people.
Nutrition
It is
important to Vale Farms that their food products are safe, clean and
nutritious. Cattle are healthiest when eating what nature intended them to
eat. Their cattle's diet consists solely of grass and mineral
supplements. Optimum health for their cattle means optimum health for
you. Vale Farms' Grassroots BeefTM is free
from:
added
growth hormones
animal by-products
antibiotics
grain and GMO feeds
pesticides and herbicides
synthetic fertilizers
Animal
Welfare
Vale Farms raises their cattle in an environment that promotes their well-being. This
includes: low stress livestock handling, humane animal husbandry, and giving
cattle freedom to express their natural behaviour. The cattle graze
free-range on certified organic pasture and the beef is in the organic
certification process. The calves are born in the summer
into a world of fresh grass and warm weather as nature intended. During
this critical time, the cow and calf are watched yet left undisturbed.
Environment
The
farming practices of Vale Farms enhance the environment by conserving tame
grasslands, riparian areas and encouraging biodiversity. Grasslands
improve the air quality by absorbing carbon dioxide and storing the carbon in
the soil. Without tillage, the soil holds the carbon and is enriched with
organic matter. The cattle graze during periods of their highest energy
demand, reducing use of machinery (fossil fuels). They restrict cattle
access to riparian zones, enhancing water quality and aquatic habitat. The
absence of pesticides and herbicides in our farm ecosystem encourages
biodiversity of soil microorganisms, insects, birds, fish, mammals and plants.
The family at Vale Farms is very accessible and always keen to talk to any customers. If you have any questions for them, call toll-free at 1-866-567-2300.
